  • Research: Artificial intelligence in the search for a final repository? Kategorie: Research Date: 2022.05.16

How to find the right site for a final repository? A science-based procedure is currently being employed to find the site in Germany that guarantees the best possible safety for the final disposal of high- level radioactive waste. Can artificial intelligence (AI) help in dealing the search for a repository site? A study commissioned by the BASE investigates this question.

  • Scientific evaluation results of the expert conference on sub-areas Date: 2022.02.18

The expert conference on sub-areas marked the starting point for public involvement in the search for a final repository site for high-level radioactive waste in Germany, as required by law. To assess this format, BASE commissioned a concomitant evaluation. The aim was to learn more about the implementation and further development of formats as well as suitable evaluation tools.

  • BASE expert response: Nuclear energy is not “green” Kategorie: Research Date: 2021.11.11

The BASE sees numerous reasons why nuclear energy should not be classified as sustainable. This is the result of a current expert response, which was presented to the public on 9 November 2021 at a hybrid event with around 80 participants in Brussels. BASE prepared its expert response in cooperation with the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
