The tasks of nuclear safety in Germany
Even after the closure of Germany's nuclear power plants and during the subsequent years of dismantlement, these facilities remain a potential risk, necessitating a high degree of safety throughout this entire period.
Furthermore, research reactors and nuclear fuel cycle facilities continue to operate in Germany. It is therefore the responsibility of BASE to provide guidance to the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection on nuclear safety matters, and to contribute to the advancement of scientific and technological expertise through national and international committee work and research in the field of nuclear safety.
