31 May – 2 June - Saxony-Anhalt Festival in Quedlinburg
The mobile disposal site exhibition organised by the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE) is attending the Saxony-Anhalt Festival in the World Heritage town of Quedlinburg over the Ascension Day weekend.
The BfE is using its exhibition to inform people about one of the most responsible national environmental projects in the coming decades – the search for a disposal facility for high-level radioactive waste. The blue and yellow containers will open their doors on Kleerstrasse/Reichenstrasse on 31 May – 2 June (Fri.: midday – 8 p.m., Sat. + Sun.: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.).
2 June – Environmental Festival in Berlin
The central focus in Berlin on 2 June will also be on how the search for a disposal facility is progressing, who is involved and how citizens can participate. The BfE pavilion (on Strasse des. 17. Juni, near the Brandenburg Gate) will provide answers at the 24th Environmental Festival organised by the GREEN LEAGUE. Strasse des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the Grosser Stern will once again become Europe’s largest ecological event area between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Please drop in – we look forward to hearing your questions!
Disposal site required for up to 1900 CASTOR containers
The final nuclear power station in Germany is due to go offline at the end of 2022. But what is going to happen to the entire radioactive legacy? As many as 1900 CASTOR containers with nuclear waste need to be safely disposed of in Germany. The BfE is using its exhibition to provide an outline of the different aspects of storing radioactive waste and the selection procedure for a disposal site for high-level radioactive waste.
The mobile disposal site exhibition organised by the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE) is making stops at various places in Germany during 2019.
