Sybille Schultz-Hüskes assumed her duties today as the new Vice President of the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE). One of the key responsibilities of the 53-year-old lawyer in her capacity as Vice President will be to act as a permanent representative for President Christian Kühn. In the forthcoming days, Ms. Schultz-Hüskes will be welcomed by the approximately 450 employees of the Office at its headquarters in Berlin-Charlottenburg, as well as online at the locations in Salzgitter, Cologne, and Bonn. She will also provide preliminary insights into her future work.

"With the appointment of the new Vice President, the leadership of BASE is once again complete," states BASE President Christian Kühn on the occasion of Ms. Schultz-Hüskes assuming the role. "I am confident that our diverse professional expertise will consolidate and further advance the work at BASE."

The appointment of Sybille Schultz-Hüskes represents a valuable addition to the BASE team, bringing with it a wealth of experience in administrative expertise. Ms. Schultz-Hüskes has served the state of Berlin in various managerial roles within the environmental sector for over two decades. In the Berlin Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment, she was responsible for environmental and sustainability policy issues, in particular for the coordination of activities between the federal and state governments and for the approval procedures associated with immission control legislation.
