Site selection procedure Philippsburg: intermediate stage completed in the approval procedure

The initial findings from the current approval procedure for providing storage for German waste from nuclear reprocessing at the storage site in Philippsburg are now available. As a result, there is no need for an environmental impact assessment for the project requested by the EnBW energy supply company. This emerged from an investigation by the licensing authority, the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE).

The search for a disposal site attracts attention from social science research

Academic findings on current sociological developments are an important prerequisite for determining opportunities for public participation in the search for a disposal site. The Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE) has therefore launched a research project on this topic; it is designed to pool this knowledge and assess the findings for its own work.
