Laws and regulations

This is where you can find laws, regulations and guidelines that apply to nuclear technology, nuclear safety, disposal and radiation protection in Germany. The Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE) combines these legal texts in its Manual on Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection.

    Frequently used legal provisions

    Here you can find bilingual editions (English / German) of the more frequently used laws and regulations. The translations are performed by the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management without assuming liability.

    Manual on Reactor Safety and Radiation Protection

    The Manual on Reactor Safety and Radiation Protection contains legal and sublegal regulatory documents in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection - as reference only and partly as complete documents - and, in addition, further related regulations and information. In Section 1A the most important national laws are listed, e.g.

  • Dose coefficients

    To protect the general public the radiation exposure shall be limited. The dose limits are calculated using the dose coefficients which you can find here (PDFs available in German only).
